Pensacola Franchise Joins in Community Volunteer Cleanup Efforts in Perdido Key

The Cleanup Crew
On September 21, 2024, the local MosquitoNix Pensacola franchise jumped in and took part in a volunteer event to allow the entire community to come together and get those 16 miles of gorgeous coastline of Perdido Key cleaned up. Perdido Key has two state parks, a vast National Seashore to explore and preserves for miles where you could bird watch, kayak or hike through the gorgeous trails. Though this barrier island is tucked away on the Western edge of Florida, the white sand dunes and gorgeous Gulf view make it a slice of heaven for those who live and visit the strip of land nicknamed the Lost Key.
Keeping Perdido Key clean and keeping the beach habitat as healthy as possible is important to allow the native plants to thrive. These plants help keep the dunes in place and the sand from blowing away, which would be devastated by all of the hurricanes and other tropical storms the area gets. To delay the erosion of the beaches for as long as possible, these plants need to live their best life, and MosquitoNix wants to help make that happen by volunteering at events like this.
